Paul Maurer has personally been in the carnival and amusement business now for over 45 years and still going strong! In 1971 as a solo game operator, he got started with playing numerous fairs and festivals throughout the West, Mid-West and Central United States. During that time frame, formerly known as (Paul Maurer Concessions) was known as one of the largest game concessionaire / operators in California. In 1984, wanting to fulfill a lifelong dream, Paul took the “big step” and purchased his first amusement ride and then soon thereafter formed what is now known as “Paul Maurer Shows.”
Today, Paul Maurer Shows can now compliment a full size carnival with over 35 amusement rides, fun games and cotton candy food concessions.
Currently, Paul Maurer Shows produces and supports more than 90-100 events throughout the Western United States with our main focus on California, Oregon & Nevada. Our fair schedule includes the SISKIYOU GOLDEN FAIR, Yreka, CA., TULELAKE-BUTTE VALLEY FAIR, Tulelake, CA., DEL NORTE COUNTY FAIR, Crescent City, CA., LASSEN COUNTY FAIR, Susanville, CA., JOSEPHINE COUNTY FAIR, Grants Pass, OR., LAKEVIEW COUNTY FAIR & ROUND-UP, Lakeview, OR., MOTHER LODE FAIR, Sonora, CA., CURRY COUNTY FAIR, Gold Beach, OR., and ELDORADO COUNTY FAIR, Placerville, CA. The fair’s listed above are in addition to numerous other State, City, County, Festivals and Fiestas we play throughout the year. The attendance for many of these events can range anywhere from 5,000 to 100,000 guest and visitors.
Paul Maurer Shows is known for its unique, brightly-painted rides, and their sparking lights (that work & shine brightly at night) including the newest ride, a thrill seekers favorite, the 55’ “Rock Star” or watching the spectacular light show on the 70’ “Giant Wheel or 60’ Zipper. Of course you wouldn’t want to miss the 100’ Super-Shot that is guaranteed to take your breath away either!
From the colorful, three toned canvass, aluminum framed family games, the food concession wagons selling those carnival favorites like Hand Dipped Corndogs, Cotton-Candy and Popcorn, Paul Maurer Shows continues to make the commitment in making your fair or event rank as one of the best!
Most importantly, having the newest and highest, state of the art amusement rides, our shows equipment, safety and employee policies reflects the strong and well-deserved reputation for always opening an event on time, never missing an opening deadline. Paul Maurer Shows never place undue pressure upon our employees to set-up their rides. We train our employees to remain conscious of the safety procedures, and inspections, which is the highest priority during the set-up, operating and tear down periods! We also take extra steps to ensure the continuous operation of all our rides during our fairs & events. Paul Maurer Shows maintain and service our rides as per manufacture’s requirements on a daily and weekly maintenance schedule. Should any ride undergo the unexpected break down, we generally have emergency spare parts on hand, ensuring a minimal down time. Our trained ride repair mechanics are solely dedicated to the ride maintenance and repair program of our show.
Their efforts and understanding for the need of rides to operate safely and continuously have contributed to the success of Paul Maurer Shows.

Magic of Louie Foxx
Louie Foxx is the consummate kid that never grew up and it’s evident as you watch him interact with audiences of all age. He is living his childhood dream of being a magician.
As a kid he realized that he excelled at all of the things that adults told him were a waste of time. Instead of playing baseball in high school, Louie built himself a rickety table and rode the bus into downtown to perform magic tricks on the street corner and got paid by “passing the hat”. He’s come a long way since then.
The Society of American Magicians voted Louie The Best Stage Magician and Best Close-Up Magician in Minnesota in 1996. He has also been featured four times in the prestigious Linking Ring Magazine which is a magazine for the 13,000 members of the International Brotherhood of Magicians! Louie has also written several books about magic tricks for professional magicians, one of which has sold over 2,300 copies!
Louie is also a Two Time Guinness World Record Holder and has been on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, the nationally syndicated television show How ‘Bout That, Evening Magazine, New Day Northwest, Otra Movida TV in Spain, and in London’s Guardian Newspaper!
Cook's Racing Pigs
We got our start in 1986 at the California State Fair. We performed there 14 years in a row for our fans.
OUR SHOW IS MORE THAN A RACE, IT IS AN EVENT!!!
Our free betting allows 100% audience participation. Each spectator has a stake in the race. We estimate that 30-40% of our audience has never won a blue ribbon before. Small children to the seniors at our show have the chance to win their first blue ribbon. This is a memory that we are able to make for your fairgoers.
Now that we are in our 35th year of racing pigs, we have a third generation of fans watching our show. We have been told numerous stories about the ribbon they won 5, 10, 20 years ago.
Our spectators tell us Cook's Racing Pigs are the only reason why they comeback to the fair. Your fairgoers come to watch us, show after show, day after day, year after year.
Our free betting makes us the most interactive show in the fair business.
Our audience will push and shove, lie, cheat and steal to win our prizes.
Not only will we award possibly hundreds of blue ribbons, we also give away 2 t-shirts and a hat at every show. No other act will give away as many prizes as Cook's Racing Pigs.

SKIP “THE BALLOON MAN” BANKS
The “Loon in the Balloon” is the one AND ONLY Skip Banks. What would you do if you where suddenly swallowed by a giant balloon? Well Skip thinks it’s a good time to bounce, dance and basically do all sorts of crazy antics to pulsing music. His complete lack of fear-of-death-by-inflatable ends up being fascinating and hilarious all at the same time.
Skip has been honing this and other bizarre entertainment skills as a performer in Southern California for decades, but has also performed internationally on TV and on major stages and major league and college arenas. There simply isn’t anywhere he’s not willing to risk it all for a good laugh.
If you are walking around the fairgrounds and see a huge crowd, laughing and holding their sides, it’s a good bet Skip has set up shop inside his giant balloon and has morphed into one of his colorful characters.

Flo – The amazing talents of Flo The Clown
Linda is one of the finest, funniest female clowns in America! She has had the distinct good fortune to spread her clowning antics for more than 20 years from the West Coast of the United States to Russia, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Singapore. She has even toured with the Yankee Doodle Circus in New York and beyond. As a children/family entertainer she brings smiles to everyone she meets and greets. She has that lovable charm that makes every child -- young or young at heart -- feel special and treats them all with care and attention.
Her clown characters have even been used as models for paintings and figurines throughout the world. She has been featured in many of the original Clown artwork pieces by the late Chuck Oberstein, and has posed for many statues by Ron Lee. She receives no royalties from the pieces -- she just loves clowning!
Linda shares her love of clowning with those around her. She has taught others the performing art of clowning at Clown Schools, Conventions and Workshops in the Western United States, Wisconsin, New York and many more. Her friends like to call her the "Dr. Laura of Clowning" because she genuinely cares for them, is quick with a smile and a hug and is genuinely helpful in mentoring new clowns.
As a child she dreamed of being a clown. How wonderful to be one of the best!

Instead of writing this in third person, I would rather just get down to the nitty gritty about who I really am and the person I would love to become. I feel like most things should be written in third person but I don't do things exactly how most would. I like to follow my own trail and create my own path. So let's kick it off my way.
My name is Madison Hudson. I am born and raised in the small town of Wheatland, California. With living in a small town, I feel like I have grown to find deeper connections with others and grew up differently than most would. I graduated in 2014 a year earlier than I should've. So I walked the stage and received my diploma at the age of 16. It was one of my biggest accomplishments. My purpose behind it, was the fact that I wanted to begin my career as soon as I possibly could. I performed throughout my high school years. I even somehow talked my parents into buying music equipment with the college funds. I promised that I would pay for school with the money I made from performing. I am now going three years strong in college. I just finished my degree in Business Administration and now I am beginning my journey with two more degrees, communications, and marketing. I always heard that degrees are best in threes.
I am so lucky that someone took the chance on me when I was 12 when I realized that I wanted to start this crazy journey. I have been able to share the stage with not only amazing local bands but with people like Dylan Scott, Brandy Clark, Luke Pell, and so many others. With coming into contact with many others, I have been able to be influenced by so many different kinds of artists. I have truly been shaped into the person I am from all those around me. I would say my kind of country music is different than others. I like to take country music and turn it into something a little different with a slight rock edge to it. High energy is my way of life and that's how I want my music to be.
Gotcha Covered is a band covering a wide variety of hit music. We play the top hits of every genre from the 70's to today. Exploding vocals, combined with powerful harmonies, bring every song to life. We take the extra effort to make the songs sound like you're listening to the original artists LIVE. Multiple keyboards and synthesizers make our song collection extraordinarily broader than any other band you've heard.

2018/19 Yuba-Sutter Fair Royalty Court
Morgan Goude – Miss Teen Yuba-Sutter
Ainsley Mowers – Miss Yuba-Sutter
The Yuba-Sutter Fair is a place for little people, big people, country folks, and city folks. Here you can find carnival rides and cotton candy, 4-H and FFA livestock, rodeos and destruction derbies, and of course, the annual Yuba-Sutter Fair Royalty Court Scholarship Competition. The competition for Miss Yuba-Sutter, Miss Teen Yuba-Sutter, and Mini Miss Yuba-Sutter is a two-month program in which the girls are educated, motivated and stimulated in the areas of on-stage performing, community service, and leadership development.
The on-stage portion of the pageant that is seen at the Yuba-Sutter Fair is not representative of the competition in its entirety. On-stage, the participants are seen to compete in three areas of competition: communication skills, talent, and the ability to answer an impromptu question. In reality though, the participants compete in much more than what is seen on-stage the night of the pageant. Miss and Miss Teen Yuba-Sutter participants are judged in four other off-stage areas of competition: personality, scholastic achievement, knowledge of the fair industry, and community service history. Mini Miss Yuba-Sutter participants are judged in one other off-stage area of competition: personality interview.
To become Miss, Miss Teen, or Mini Miss Yuba-Sutter, hard work and leadership skills are necessary. The selected girls serve one-year terms in which they attend community service events, representing the Yuba-Sutter Fair and the Yuba-Sutter community. At the end of their one- year reign, Miss Yuba-Sutter is awarded a $1,000 scholarship, Miss Teen is awarded $500 and Mini Miss Yuba-Sutter is awarded $250.
Each and every year the Yuba-Sutter Fair welcomes more 60,000 guests through its gates and promises a day full of agriculture, food, rides, games, and entertainment. To provide a variety of entertainment to our guests the Fair welcomes a variety of acts, dance groups, bands, and vocalists to perform throughout the Fairgrounds.
The Entertainment Department is seeking to hire performers to fill the Yuba-Sutter Fair entertainment lineup.
Applications are used only to gather information about potential entertainers and the completion of an application in no way guarantees a performance spot at the Yuba-Sutter Fair.
The contact person listed on the application will be contacted if you are selected to perform.
- Please prepare to be flexible with your schedule in the event you are selected to perform.
