Paul Maurer has personally been in the carnival and amusement business now for over 45 years and still going strong! In 1971 as a solo game operator, he got started with playing numerous fairs and festivals throughout the West, Mid-West and Central United States. During that time frame, formerly known as (Paul Maurer Concessions) was known as one of the largest game concessionaire / operators in California. In 1984, wanting to fulfill a lifelong dream, Paul took the “big step” and purchased his first amusement ride and then soon thereafter formed what is now known as “Paul Maurer Shows.”
Today, Paul Maurer Shows can now compliment a full size carnival with over 35 amusement rides, fun games and cotton candy food concessions.
Currently, Paul Maurer Shows produces and supports more than 90-100 events throughout the Western United States with our main focus on California, Oregon & Nevada. Our fair schedule includes the SISKIYOU GOLDEN FAIR, Yreka, CA., TULELAKE-BUTTE VALLEY FAIR, Tulelake, CA., DEL NORTE COUNTY FAIR, Crescent City, CA., LASSEN COUNTY FAIR, Susanville, CA., JOSEPHINE COUNTY FAIR, Grants Pass, OR., LAKEVIEW COUNTY FAIR & ROUND-UP, Lakeview, OR., MOTHER LODE FAIR, Sonora, CA., CURRY COUNTY FAIR, Gold Beach, OR., and ELDORADO COUNTY FAIR, Placerville, CA. The fair’s listed above are in addition to numerous other State, City, County, Festivals and Fiestas we play throughout the year. The attendance for many of these events can range anywhere from 5,000 to 100,000 guest and visitors.
Paul Maurer Shows is known for its unique, brightly-painted rides, and their sparking lights (that work & shine brightly at night) including the newest ride, a thrill seekers favorite, the 55’ “Rock Star” or watching the spectacular light show on the 70’ “Giant Wheel or 60’ Zipper. Of course you wouldn’t want to miss the 100’ Super-Shot that is guaranteed to take your breath away either!
From the colorful, three toned canvass, aluminum framed family games, the food concession wagons selling those carnival favorites like Hand Dipped Corndogs, Cotton-Candy and Popcorn, Paul Maurer Shows continues to make the commitment in making your fair or event rank as one of the best!
Most importantly, having the newest and highest, state of the art amusement rides, our shows equipment, safety and employee policies reflects the strong and well-deserved reputation for always opening an event on time, never missing an opening deadline. Paul Maurer Shows never place undue pressure upon our employees to set-up their rides. We train our employees to remain conscious of the safety procedures, and inspections, which is the highest priority during the set-up, operating and tear down periods! We also take extra steps to ensure the continuous operation of all our rides during our fairs & events. Paul Maurer Shows maintain and service our rides as per manufacture’s requirements on a daily and weekly maintenance schedule. Should any ride undergo the unexpected break down, we generally have emergency spare parts on hand, ensuring a minimal down time. Our trained ride repair mechanics are solely dedicated to the ride maintenance and repair program of our show.
Their efforts and understanding for the need of rides to operate safely and continuously have contributed to the success of Paul Maurer Shows.

The Yuba-Sutter Fair is a place for little people, big people, country folks, and city folks. Here you can find carnival rides and cotton candy, 4-H and FFA livestock, rodeos and destruction derbies, and of course, the annual Yuba-Sutter Fair Royalty Court Scholarship Competition. The competition for Miss Yuba-Sutter, Miss Teen Yuba-Sutter, and Mini Miss Yuba-Sutter is a two-month program in which the girls are educated, motivated and stimulated in the areas of on-stage performing, community service, and leadership development.
The on-stage portion of the pageant that is seen at the Yuba-Sutter Fair is not representative of the competition in its entirety. On-stage, the participants are seen to compete in three areas of competition: communication skills, talent, and the ability to answer an impromptu question. In reality though, the participants compete in much more than what is seen on-stage the night of the pageant. Miss and Miss Teen Yuba-Sutter participants are judged in four other off-stage areas of competition: personality, scholastic achievement, knowledge of the fair industry, and community service history. Mini Miss Yuba-Sutter participants are judged in one other off-stage area of competition: personality interview.
To become Miss, Miss Teen, or Mini Miss Yuba-Sutter, hard work and leadership skills are necessary. The selected girls serve one-year terms in which they attend community service events, representing the Yuba-Sutter Fair and the Yuba-Sutter community. At the end of their one- year reign, Miss Yuba-Sutter is awarded a $1,000 scholarship, Miss Teen is awarded $500 and Mini Miss Yuba-Sutter is awarded $250.
Each and every year the Yuba-Sutter Fair welcomes more 60,000 guests through its gates and promises a day full of agriculture, food, rides, games, and entertainment. To provide a variety of entertainment to our guests the Fair welcomes a variety of acts, dance groups, bands, and vocalists to perform throughout the Fairgrounds.
The Entertainment Department is seeking to hire performers to fill the Yuba-Sutter Fair entertainment lineup.
