Save The Date – Hats & Horses Event May 6. 2017
Don your fanciest hat and join us for a Kentucky Derby after party for charity on Saturday, May 6th. This event will be held “on the green” just south of the Arena at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds. This event will feature a competition for “Best Hat”, music and entertainment. Signature Kentucky Derby drinks will be served up at the bar and guests will enjoy a delicious meal.
This is a charity event presented by the Friends of the Yuba Sutter Fair Foundation, which was established to help the Yuba-Sutter Fair face a future without State Funding, which local fairs depended on for decades. In 2012, Governor Jerry Brown defunded state fairs due to the California State Budget Crises. State dollars were used for maintenance, upgrades and general fund support.
The Friends Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises money through a variety of activities to support maintenance and upgrades necessary to keep the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds operational. These necessary upgrades would not be possible without the support of our generous community.

With the removal of Fair Funding from the State Budget several community members in the Yuba-Sutter area have formed the ‘Friends of the Yuba-Sutter Fair Foundation’ to help our fair replace some of what was lost.
The Friends of the Yuba-Sutter Fair is a non-profit formed to help solicit and disburse funds on the behalf of the Yuba-Sutter Fair.
The funds will support the beautification and long-term development of the Yuba-Sutter Fair and its activities; youth related, educational programs and exhibits, services and events compatible with the mission of the organization.
The Foundation recently started the ‘Walk of Friends ’ Brick Program in front of the Flower House Building on the Fairgrounds.
The bricks will be a permanent fixture on the fairgrounds that will endure for years to come. They are a wonderful way to honor a loved one, commemorate a special occasion, and provide a lasting message from grandparents or others who are special to the Yuba-Sutter Fair community.
Bricks are inscribed in all capital letters with your personal message. The sizes available are 4 x 8 for $100 or 8 x 8 for $200.
